About 1,000 Word Stories

When learning how to write short fiction, it can be helpful to set a strict word count.

In this exercise, students took on the challenge of writing a story in exactly 1,000 words while incorporating elements they learned in class: character, setting, conflict, plot, and dialogue.

They selected their own topics and created a variety of exciting and thoughtful stories.
